2025: AGILE Expended Over 8bn In Sokoto, Says Dr Buhari

The Adolescent Girls Intitiative For Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project have completed 94 out of the 161 planned activities for the year 2025 in Sokoto State, Dr Mansur has said.
Dr Mansur Buhari who is the AGILE Project Coordinator in Sokoto made the disclosure at a media roundtable with select journalists.
Represented by Malam Suleiman Musa, the Assistant System Strenghtening Manager, Dr Mansur divulged that they have expended eight billion, four hundred and fifty six million, nine hundred and sixty three thousand naira in 2025.
Explaining how the monies were used, Dr Mansur said, AGILE renovated 749 classrooms, constructed 214 solar powered boreholes, across 240 schools, constructed 1652 units of toilets across the 23 LGAs of Sokoto.
Continuing, Dr Mansur said they have planted 4,480 trees in 224 schools, enroled 16,528 adolescent girls out of the year’s target of 17,000, provided 11,221 desks to schools across the state and trained 2240 SBMC members on their roles and responsibilities on school enviroment and social compliance as well as provide 97,446 teaching and learning materials to 240 secondary schools.
He further added that 41,821 individuals have benefited from the Conditional Cash Transfer component of AGILE in the year under review, noting Sokoto has more than 2000 primary schools but less than 600 Secondary Schools, “which explains why AGILE is trying to bridge the gap by establishing additional 58 smart Secomday schools”, Dr Mansur divulged.
Giving breakdown of the activities in the year under review, AGILE Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Component Officer, Muhammed Mainasara maintained that they are on a positive trajetory considering the fact that 94 of the completed projects represents 53 percent.
“The project implentation status for the year 2025 showed, 161 planned activities of which 78 representing 43 percent has been successfully completed. 16 which represents 10 percent is in progress, 1 activity representing 1 percent is delayed and 7 others representing 7 percent moved. Therefore the total implemented activities within the year 2025 stood at 94 which meant 53 percent”, Mainasara affirmed.

In her opening remark, one of the component lead, Hajiya Rabi Gwadabawa said AGILE Project always have high regards for the media as valuable partners in progress.
“The media are our greatest partners because they help us inform, sensitize and educate the populace on our mission. The help us clear misinformation regarding the AGILE Project thereby making it acceptable to the populace”, Rabi noted.
While noting that the Gender Based Violence component of AGILE is doing greatly, Hajiya Rabi further affirmed that they provide Life Skills training using the safe space method.
“These Life Skills include, communication skills, menstrual hygiene, climate change, sexual transmitted infections, reproductive health, common nutrition, decision making amonsgt others”, Rabi noted.
