2025 NSF: Zonal elimination begins Feb. 23
The National Sports Commission (NSC), says the zonal eliminations for team sports ahead of the 2025 National Sports Festival (NSF) will begin on Feb. 23, across the country.
NSC Director of Information, Kehinde Ajayi stated this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
She said that the elimination rounds will determine which states secure a place at Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event, with intense competition expected as athletes battle for qualification.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that team sports that will feature in the elimination phase include; football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cricket, beach volleyball, Abula, and handball.
According to the statement, Kaduna State will host the North West zonal eliminations, while Yobe will oversee the North East contests.

Athletes from the South East, South West, and South South zones will also compete at their respective venues, setting the stage for thrilling encounters.
NSC Chairman, Shehu Dikko and Director-General, Bukola Olopade have also announced plans to visit selected centers to assess preparations and witness the action firsthand.
NAN reports that the 22nd NSF tagged: Gateway Games is scheduled to take place in Ogun from May 16 to 30.
The 2025 edition is expected to be one of the most competitive, with top athletes and teams vying for glory on the national stage.
