2025 World Peace Day: NASSLAF Women’s wing urges collective action for peace
The National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum (NASSLAF) Women’s Wing, has urged Nigerians to unite in supporting government’s efforts to combat insecurity and foster lasting peace across the nation.
Ayoola Fakunle, Women Leader of NASSLAF made the call in a message delivered to commemorate the World Peace Day 2025 marked annually September 21 on Sunday in Abuja.
Fakunle emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in nation-building.
This year’s global theme is, “Act Now for a Peaceful World’, saying it is a powerful reminder that peace begins with individual and community action.
Fakunle, who also serves as the Director of Human Capital/Humanitarian Services at the Remi Tinubu Support Organisation, highlighted Nigeria’s rich endowment in human and natural resources.
She said that these resources, if properly harnessed, could propel the country into global economic prominence.
“As we join the rest of the world in celebrating World Peace Day, we are reminded of the urgent need to promote peaceful coexistence,” she said.
“The theme, ‘Act Now for a Peaceful World,’ is a call to prevent violence and other actions that threaten our unity as a people.”
She called on the citizens to support government policies and reforms aimed at addressing insecurity, unemployment and injustice, issues she identified as major threats to peace and development.
“We must join hands with the Federal Government and all levels of governments to build a nation where insecurity, gender inequality and other forms of discrimination are minimised, if not completely eradicated,” Fakunle said.
The NASSLAF women leader also called for proactive steps to eliminate gender-based discriminations and urged citizens to avoid conflict triggers whether at home, in the workplace or within communities.

“We must work together to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor and play our part in creating a more inclusive and prosperous economy.
“Nigeria is the only country we can truly call home. We must protect it, nurture it, and ensure its growth.”
Fakunle reaffirmed Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa, calling for renewed commitment from all Nigerians to build a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
“Nigeria is the giant of Africa. We must live up to that name not just in words, but through deliberate, unified action,” she said.
