ZAMFARA GOVT MOVES TO DOMESTICATE NATIONAL POLICY ON IDPs
The Zamfara State Government has commenced moves to implement the national policy on Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs).
The State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development had set up a technical team to midwife the process.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of the ministry, Hajiya Fa’ika M Ahmad said there was need to implement the policy in the state.
Ahmad said that the number of IDPs in the state was increasing at a worrisome rate, adding, ”women and children are the most prone”
”We are already engaging strategic stakeholders, today we have constituted a technical team.
”We shall accept sound inputs from stakeholders, we need this policy to be domesticated and implemented in the state,” she said.

She urged the technical team to do a thorough job considering the seriousness that the issue of IDPs deserve.
The commissioner also all urged stakeholders to support the state government’s efforts towards enhancing the welfare of IDPs.
The membership of the technical team was drawn from the MDAs civil society, media among others.
