Engila Day : Community Urges Prayer For Restoration of Peace, Security in Agatu

 As the People of Engila Community, in Agatu Local Government of Benue State are preparing for the celebration of Engila day , they have urged the people to pray for God’s intervention in restoring peace and security in Agatu Local Government.

In a statement issued by the President  General and the Chairman of Engila Development Association (EDA) , Dr Godwin Adanu and Elaigwu Peter Onuminya, condemned  the latest spree of killings and bloodbaths in Okokolo Community and other parts of the Local Government by the killer’s herdmen.

The duo made the call ahead of this year’s Engila Day celebration which is slated for February, 2024.

They  called on Nigerians to pray for God’s intervention to restore peace and security across the Local Government, especially in the river line areas.

They commended the efforts of security agencies for prompt response to attack whenever they are call upon , but however call on federal and state government to deploy more Security personnel to the border communities to forestall incessant attack by the killer’s herdsmen.

The statement further disclosed that the Senator representing Benue South senatorial district , Senator Abba Moro and the member representing Apa/ Agatu federal constituency, Ojotu Ojema, caretaker chairman of Agatu Local Government Yakubu Ochohepo will be among those to be honoured for their meritorious services.

The statement said the community will use the event to discuss about the development of the community and the event will feature cultural dance and exhibitions.

It call on sons and daughters of Engila at home and in diaspora to attend the celebration unfailingly.
