217

In a move to boost operational effectiveness in the Lake Chad Basin, the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has initiated efforts to foster collaboration with the Chadian Air Force. This initiative came to light during a recent diplomatic visit led by the Force Commander, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, to meet with Chad’s Chief of Air Staff, Lieutenant General Idriss Amine on February 21, 2024.

During the meeting, Major General Ali conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Chadian Air Force for its unwavering support of the MNJTF’s mission. He underscored the pivotal role that air power has played and continues to play in the collective endeavors of the multinational coalition.

The Force Commander provided Gen Amine with a comprehensive overview of the MNJTF’s diverse operations, encompassing both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies aimed at fostering stability in the socio-security landscape of the Lake Chad region.

In response, Lieutenant General Amine offered firm assurances of heightened support to the MNJTF. Reflecting on the longstanding history of cooperation, he acknowledged the Chadian Air Force’s consistent partnership with the MNJTF since its inception in 2015. Gen Amine expressed his dedication to strengthening this alliance and reassured Major General Ali of the Chadian Air Force’s preparedness to escalate its operational assistance.

The collaborative efforts between the MNJTF and the Chadian Air Force signify a significant stride towards reinforcing counterinsurgency and stabilization initiatives in the Lake Chad Basin.
