A distinguished traditional ruler, the Olukoyi of Ikoyi land in Isokan Local Government area of Osun State, Oba Taofeek Iyiola Akande, Morenigbade Oyeboade I, has described a traditionalist and Odua Peoples Congress, OPC leader, Chief Raji Teslim Akerele as a true son who always fight for the right and upliftment of entire Ikoyi land.
The Olukoyi made this known during the installation of Chief Akerele as the new Bashorun and his wife Ganiyat as Yeye Bashorun of Ikoyi land.
Oba Akande who commended the new Bashorun of Ikoyi for his unrelented efforts in fighting for the development of Ikoyi town enjoined other residents of the town to emulate him.
The Olukoyi further admonished the residents of the town to join him in developing the entire Ikoyi land saying his efforts in transforming Ikoyi land cannot be over emphasised.
“I want you all to always fight for the progress of the town and I want somebody like the new Bashorun, Chief Akerele as he is never tired of working for the development of the land.
“The Olukoyi called on the new Bashorun not to relent in doing good and his efforts to fight for the development of Ikoyi town”.
In his acceptance speech, the new Bashorun of Ikoyi land promised not to let the Olukoyi and entire residents of Ikoyi land down adding that he will continue to work for the progress of the ancient town.
According to Chief Akerele, “I want to appreciate Kabiyesi the Olukoyi of Ikoyi land and Olukoyi in Council for making me the Bashorun and my wife Yeye Bashorun of Ikoyi land, we are highly elated today Kabiyesi and we promise not to betray the confidence you repose in us”.
While speaking, the Chairman Isokan Local Government area of Osun State, Alhaji Mufutau Amoo, described the new Bashorun and Yeye Bashorun of Ikoyi land as a true son and daughter of the land saying they have been pursuing the betterment of Ikoyi land for long till date adding that, they deserved the honour while calling on other residents to emulate the couple”.
People from all walks of life were at the colourful and well attended programme, which includes Rep Oladebo of the House of Representative, local government Chairmen, business men and women as well as traditional rulers from far and near.
