Kebbi, NNPC Renew Commitment On Production Of Biofuel

The Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Thursday, 8th April,2021 paid a courtesy visit to the Group Managing Director , GMD, Malam Mele Kyari at the NNPC Towers in Abuja .

The visit was to renew efforts to strengthen collaboration on the production of biofuel and renewal energy.

In a remark, Mele Kyari reaffirmed the commitment of the NNPC to its MOU with Kebbi State on ethanol production.

The GMD also informed the governor of exploratory drilling in the Sokoto Basin Area, that is set to begin a large part of which is in Kebbi State .

He commended Kebbi State Government for its determination to the actualisation of the program.

The discussion revolved around the Kebbi State-NNPC Biofuel Program where His Excellency, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu told the NNPC of the state’s Cassava Cultivation that has steadily been increasing annually preparatory to the kick-off of the program.

He also discussed hydrogen production program for which a feasibility study in conjunction with German experts will soon commence in the state.

The State Standing Committee on Bio fuels Chairman’ professor Muhammad Kaoje Abubakar, Hon. Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr.Abba Sani Kalgo, Alhaji Kallamu Aliero and Nasiru Hassan accompanied the governor during the visit.

It will be recalled that in November, 2017 the Kebbi State Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU ) to set up a company that will produce bio fuel (ethanol ) in Kebbi state.
