Yobe to finalise 25 years development plan

The Yobe State government is finalising a 25-year development plan tagged ‘‘Yobe Development Planning 2050’’ for the economic recovery and growth plan.

The Commissioner of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Muhammad Garba Gagiyo, stated this at Town Hall/Consultative Meeting with Citizens in Preparation of Yobe State 2025 Annual Budget held in Damaturu.

He said the town hall meeting would equip the state government with opportunities to inject policies, programmes, and projects into the 25-year state development planning.

He said the state development planning for 25 years will contain the yearning and aspirations of Yobe citizens that would guide the stakeholders to create policies that would boost the socio-economic development of the state.

He added that the development planning would guide the state government in the areas of road construction, building of modern markets, educational development, and standard of healthcare service delivery.

Other policies would provide agricultural revitalisation, provision of decent and affordable houses, and other drivers of developments that would depend on good budget formulation and implementation.

In his remark, the Project Manager of ActionAid, Nigeria Kenneth Unuafe, urged the participants to strengthen the local framework that supports social cohesion, enhances community ownership ensuring transparency in the planning and implementation processes. ( Daily Trust)
