Sokoto govt,, academy train 500 female students on digital skills
Sokoto State Female Education Board will collaborate with Green media Digital Academy, a non-profit making organisation to train 500 female students on digital and life enhancing skills.
The Board’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Mustapha Namakka, disclosed this on Sunday at the graduation of 35 students who underwent free training scheme organised by the organisation.
Namakka said the board had designed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training programme for girl students across the state, adding that Gov. Ahmad Aliyu had already approved the initiative and it had been captured in the budget.
He assured the board’s readiness to partner with Greenmedia Academy on the exercise, stressing that students would be subjected to all forms of training modules aimed at preparing them ahead of future challenges.
Also speaking, Mr Imran Muhammad, from Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, said the ministry would look for ways to partner Greenmedia Academy in the training of youths in ICT.
Muhammad charged the graduating students to continue to search for more knowledge especially in the area of ICT in order to be productive and relevant in the emerging society.
Earlier, the Executive Director of Life Legacy Training School, Prince Babatunde Omolehin, stated that the graduating sets were the fourth batch of the training programme
Omolehin said the free ICT training school, which began in 2022 was initiated as part of his efforts to contribute to the education development of youths in Sokoto State.

“Over these years, the academy has partnered with various non-profit and corporate organisations to train youths, including young girls and persons with disabilities on various ICT tools across Sokoto state.
“For instance, in 2022, the academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN), a social digital inclusion organisation to implement its Life Legacy Programme.
“So far, we have trained no fewer than 200 youths on ICT tools such as; website design, graphic design, multimedia tool, data analysis, and digital marketing which were impactful,” Omolehin said.
Other speakers included the Special Assistant to the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Malam Yusuf Dingyadi, a member of Nigeria Guild Of Editors, Malam Kabir Asada and the immediate past Chairperson of Nigerian Association of Women Journalist (NAWOJ), Sokoto chapter, Hajia Rakiya Muhammad among others.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the event featured presentations of awards to distinguished students and presentation of certificates to graduating students.
