“Morocco Considers Agricultural Investment in Yobe: A Bright Future for Onion Farmers”

The Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency, said it would mobilize investors for a direct investment in agriculture and Green energy in Yobe state.
Mr Yassine El Ahyani, Head of Emerging Industries of the agency stated this today when he received the state delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, in Rabat, Morocco.
He said the rich agricultural resources like the Sesame seeds and Gum Arabic have great potentials and value in the international market.

Yassine said Sesame seeds is on high demand in the international market and could yield huge turn over to investors.
“An investment in the agricultural sector would produce a win-win result to the investors and their partners in Yobe state because of the increasing demand for agricultural products” he explained.
Yassine said there are similar opportunities with much potentials to generate green energy for local use and export out of the state.
“This is another area that we need to explore to have another win-win situation in the state” he added.
Earlier, the leader of the state delegation and Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, assured the Moroccon Investment and Export Development Agency that prospective investors would enjoy favorable conditions to invest in Yobe state.

“We have good incentives and excellent investment opportunities for investors in agriculture especially Sesame Seeds, Gum Arabic, beans, groundnut and other crops” he said.
The SSG noted that government introduced deliberate policies to promote direct investment and ease means of doing business in the state.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Alh. Mustapha Goniri, informed participants that the specie of onion produced in Geidam and other parts of the state remain the best quality.

He explained that the peculiar soil, water and sunshine combination in the belt makes the Yobe onion exceptional in nutritional value.
He said a collaborative effort between the farmers, Yobe State government and the foreign investors would create a huge investment.

“The Yobe state cargo airport would facilitate quick delivery to all parts of the globe” the Commissioner added.

Some of the participants assured to take samples, and conduct study on the quality and means of preservation to consider investing into Onion farming and exports.
Alh. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, Chief Executive Officer of the consulting firm, African Network, assured completion of the documentation procedure for a timely start of the investment process.
He commended Yobe state government for its commitment to expand its revenue sources, provide employment opportunities to the citizens and create wealth.
“We are totally committed to ensuring the success of all the partnerships for the benefit of all parties involved ” he said.
