FORMER APGA NATIONAL SECRETARY CAUTIONS JOURNALISTS ON FAKE NEWS

The former National Secretary of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and leader of the party in Zamfara state, Dr Sani Shinkafi has called on media practitioners and social media users to avoid fake news. 

Shinkafi who made the call when he hosted journalists for Ramadan breakfast at his residence in Gusau noted that journalists are partners in progress.

“You should use your profession and promote peace and stability for the development country.

“I seek for your continued support to the ongoing peace process in the state initiative by Gov Bello Matawalle to provide lasting peace in the state”, Shinkafi added.

The APGA leader also called on Muslims use the ongoing ramadan period to pray for peace and stability in the state and Nigeria in general, noting that there was no time that Nigeria needed urgent prayers than now

“We all know the present situation in this country, nobody is safe, and almost all the six geopolitical zones of the country are facing security challenges.

“We are in the holy month of Ramadan, this is the time that almighty Allah accept prayers more.

“Let us use this period and seek for Allah’s intervention to promote peace and stability in our dear state and country”, he said.

“We should pray for the present administration in the state led by Gov. Bello Matawalle to succeed in his efforts to achieve lasting peace in the state,’’ he added.

Shinkafi also the Honorary Adviser to Matawalle, commended the state government for the recent arrest of 35 suspects for allegedly helping banditry in the state.

He called for more stakeholders’ support to government and security agencies in addressing security challenges bedeviling the state.

He thanked journalists and other people for accepting the invitation and promised to continue to sustain the good working relationship with journalists and other critical stakeholders.

Other people who joined the the breakfast include members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, (IPAC) in the state, APGA officials and members as well as Islamic Scholars.
