Adamawa: Agency urges stakeholders to support flood containment plan
The Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), has urged stakeholders to support the state government’s efforts towards tackling flooding.
Dr Celine Laori, the Permanent Secretary, ADSEMA Office, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Tuesday.
Laori said that the call was necessitated by the 2025 flood prediction which listed the state as a high risk area.
She urged stakeholders to carry out massive sensitisation activities across the state to equip residents with necessary tips to contain flooding.
“Apart from sensitisation, we welcome any other activity that will be of benefit to our people in the face of the predicted flooding,” she said.
The permanent secretary advised residents of flood prone communities to move to higher grounds for the safety of their lives and property.

She commended the Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri-led government for its proactive moves and commitment to mitigating the effects of any eventual flooding.
“The government has already procured food and none food relief items for distribution in case of any emergency”
“The government has shown enormous willingness and readiness to fully respond to any emergency arising from flooding,” she said.
She advised farmers not to cultivate on flood prone areas in order to avoid damage of their crops.
