…Beauty and Brain: Hadiza, Nafisa and Rakayya extraordinary accomplishments has not only made its mark on the global stage but has also provided a beacon of hope and inspiration for a brighter future, and making Yobe the Pride of the Nation

Yobe State, a region often overshadowed by narratives of conflict, has emerged onto the global stage, not with the clang of arms, but with the quiet power of intellect and the brilliance of three young women.

Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu (17), Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), and Hadiza Kashim Kalli have achieved a feat unprecedented in Nigerian history: securing three world championship titles at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London.

Their accomplishment is not just a testament to their individual talent, but a powerful symbol of strength, beauty, and brain, a radiant reflection of the transformative educational reforms taking place in Yobe State under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Nafisa, crowned the Overall World Best in English Language Skills, stands as a beacon of linguistic mastery, showcasing Nigeria’s prowess on the world stage.  Rukayya, the Overall World Best in Debate, exemplifies sharp intellect, strategic thinking, and compelling communication.  Hadiza, recipient of the Outstanding Talent Award (Gold Medal), rounds out this trio of extraordinary achievers, highlighting the depth of talent flourishing within Yobe State.

These young women, all students of the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) in Mamudo, Yobe State, competed against over 20,000 participants from 69 countries, a testament to their exceptional abilities and unwavering dedication.

Their success is inextricably linked to the visionary leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni and his commitment to education reform in Yobe State. The NTIC, where these girls honed their skills, is a testament to this commitment.  Established, managed, and fully funded by the Yobe State Government, the school provides scholarships to all its students, including Nafisa, Rukayya, and Hadiza.

Governor Buni’s investment, exceeding N2.2 billion in scholarships for 890 NTIC students alone, signifies a profound understanding of education’s transformative power. This investment extends beyond NTIC, encompassing thousands more students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria and abroad.

The recent graduation of 167 scholarship recipients in fields like medicine, computer science, and engineering exemplifies the far-reaching impact of these initiatives.

The girls’ achievements resonate far beyond Yobe State.  Prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Pantami have voiced their admiration, urging the federal government to recognize their accomplishments with awards commensurate to those given to sports champions.

Their call reflects a growing national recognition of the importance of celebrating intellectual achievement alongside athletic prowess.

Governor Buni himself has announced a grand ceremony to honor the girls, underscoring the state’s pride in their remarkable achievement.

Yobe State philanthropist Kashim Musa Tumsah has further augmented this recognition with substantial personal rewards.

The story of Nafisa, Rukayya, and Hadiza is not merely one of individual success; it is a narrative of collective progress, highlighting the potential for transformation when education is prioritized.  It is a powerful counter-narrative to the often-circulated negative perceptions of Yobe State, presenting a vibrant picture of a state investing in its future, empowered by the brilliance of its youth.

Their success stands as an inspiring example for girls across Nigeria and the world, proving that with dedication, support, and a commitment to education, anything is possible.

Yobe State, through the visionary leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni and the extraordinary accomplishments of these three young women, has not only made its mark on the global stage but has also provided a beacon of hope and inspiration for a brighter future.
