PDP vows to sanction saboteurs of Kebbi congress
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi, has vowed to take disciplinary action against members allegedly sabotaging its congresses scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27.
The Legal Adviser of the party in the state, Mr Nura Bello, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
He said all arrangements had been concluded to discipline those working against the success of the exercise.
“Already, our party at the national level has constituted a disciplinary committee to deal with any member found engaging in anti-party activities or sabotaging our congresses,” he said.
Bello explained that an order of a higher court, which resurfaced on social media on Sept. 18, had directed the party to halt congresses scheduled for Kano and Kebbi States.
He said the party immediately engaged counsel to approach the court and demand the vacation of the order.
“The judge, in his wisdom, vacated the order on the grounds of misrepresentation of facts and lack of jurisdiction.
“Based on the facts before him, Kano was not among the states scheduled to hold congresses on Sept. 20 and 27.

“It was on that basis that the judge vacated the order. All arrangements have now been concluded to conduct the congresses as scheduled,” he said.
Bello lamented that the plaintiffs who approached the court were members of the PDP in the state, stressing that jurisdictional issues should have been raised at the state high court.
He, therefore, called on party members to turn out en masse for the congress on Saturday, Sept. 20 and 27.
