As Nigeria celebrates its Independence Day, it’s an opportune moment to shine a light on the remarkable progress being made in Nasarawa State under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.

In a nation grappling with economic reforms and nationwide challenges, Governor Sule’s administration stands out for its unwavering commitment to transforming the state and delivering tangible results for its people.

Navigating Economic Headwinds with Vision and Purpose

While Nigeria faces necessary but challenging economic adjustments, Nasarawa State, under Governor Sule, has demonstrated resilience and progress.

Governor Sule’s leadership, rooted in transparency, honesty, and accountability, has been a driving force behind unprecedented advancements in crucial sectors. His approach blends private-sector efficiency with a public-service ethos, leading to notable developments in agriculture, mining, industrialization, health, and education.

A Legacy of Collaboration and Development

Governor Sule has fostered a culture of collaboration, particularly evident in his positive relationships with predecessors, Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-makura. This bridge-building approach has transformed political transition into a developmental asset, fostering continuity and accelerating progress in a state once hampered by fragmented governance.

Economic Diversification and the Lithium Rush

Nasarawa State has been repositioned as a major player in agriculture, mining, and industrialization under Governor Sule’s leadership. Executive Order No. 2, passed by his administration, revolutionized mining and solid minerals development.

The state is now experiencing a “Lithium Rush,” with significant investment from Chinese companies in mining and processing this valuable resource. This has the potential to reshape the state’s economy and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s overall economic diversification efforts.

The Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development’s recognition of Nasarawa State, selecting it to host the National Council on Mining and Mineral Resources Development, is a testament to this revolutionary achievement. The Nasarawa Internal Revenue Service has also seen remarkable growth, generating N16.5 billion from January to August 2025.

Bringing Private-Sector Expertise to Governance

Governor Sule’s background as a seasoned technocrat, with experience as a Group Managing Director of the Dangote Group, has brought valuable private-sector expertise to governance. This has helped attract significant investments and fuel economic growth.

Infrastructure Development: A Focus on Continuity and Innovation

Governor Sule has prioritized infrastructure development, completing inherited projects while initiating new ones. The Farin Ruwa Dam and urban renewal initiatives are prime examples of his commitment to developmental continuity. His administration has also pioneered the Nasarawa Open Government Initiative, digitizing budget tracking and procurement to combat corruption. This commitment to transparency has significantly reduced procurement-related petitions and earned Nasarawa State top honors for fiscal transparency in the North-Central region.

A People-Centered Approach and Technological Advancement

Governor Sule’s leadership is marked by humility and a genuine focus on the people. The Nasarawa Technology Village, a joint venture with global tech firms, exemplifies his vision for a 21st-century Nasarawa State, attracting significant private investments and creating numerous jobs for young people. His agricultural reforms employ smart farming tools and partnerships, empowering farmers and boosting yields, as evidenced by the success of the Jangwa Rice Farm, which is geared toward ensuring food security.

Celebrating Achievements, Embracing the Future

The Governor’s administration has implemented numerous projects and initiatives in various sectors, with a goal to build a better future for all. Recent initiatives include over N30 billion in urban and rural renewal projects approved by the State Executive Council. In five years, the Governor has overseen the construction of over 100 roads. These efforts have been instrumental in fostering socio-economic development and improving the quality of life for citizens.

The evidence of progress is undeniable: from tech-driven reforms to grassroots empowerment, from infrastructure development to economic diversification. The people of Nasarawa State are witnessing firsthand the positive impact of Governor Sule’s leadership.

Looking Ahead: A Promise of Continued Progress

The people of Nasarawa State must support their leader in his journey of transformation. With the signing into law of the 2025 budget, the largest in the state’s history, the next two years promise to be the most productive yet.

Governor Sule’s greatest legacy may be inspiring the country to replace transition “tug-of-war” with the unifying purpose of progress.

In Nasarawa State, the most revolutionary act is not defiance, but durable, purposeful collaboration.
