NGO empowers 25 Nasarawa youths on fish farming, POS operation
Mulapnen Capacity Building Initiative (MUCABI), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has trained and empowered 25 youths in Nasarawa State on fish farming and Point of Sale (POS) operations.
Mr Nicodemus Samson-Beska, Executive Director of MUCABI presented start-up packs to the beneficiaries on Saturday in Lafia.
He said that the empowerment programmed was aimed at enhancing the participants’ skills for economic growth and self-reliance.
According to him, the training began with a three-day workshop, after which the beneficiaries were attached to cluster mentors in their chosen areas of interest.
Samson-Beska explained that the training formed part of the NGO’s initiative to promote entrepreneurship and job creation, with support from the Centre for Community Action for Peace and Development (CCAPAD).
He added that the initiative, implemented under the organisation’s Youth Empowerment for Social Inclusion (YESI) project, was designed to equip young people with practical skills, promote social inclusion, and tackle unemployment and poverty.
The executive director commended the organisation’s partners for their collaboration and urged the beneficiaries to utilise the skills and resources provided to build sustainable businesses, create jobs, and contribute to the economic development of the state.
Also speaking, Chief Superintendent Bello Umar-Faruq, representing the Nigeria Correctional Service, stressed the importance of skills acquisition.

He noted that the future belonged to those who were prepared with relevant skills.
He commended MUCABI and its partners for “putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.”
Similarly, representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI), Mr Albert Ehada and Mr Aliyu Isa-Shuaibu, lauded the NGO for the initiative and encouraged the beneficiaries to apply their newly acquired skills to uplift themselves, their families, and their communities.
Some of the beneficiaries, Blessing Adakole and Mohammed Liman, thanked the organisation, describing the programme as a life-changing opportunity that would enable them to become self-reliant and improve their socio-economic well-being.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates, fish feeds, rubber tanks, and POS machines to the beneficiaries.
