Yobe govt recognises best performing local governments on primary healthcare leadership challenge.

Yobe State Governor Dr Mai Mala Buni CON has charged local government chairmen to redouble their efforts on  healthcare related issues.

 Governor Buni gave the charged at the presentation of awards to the best-performing chairmen in the Primary Health Care  Leadership Challenge Award across the state.

Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, Dr  Buni presided over the presentation of awards and emphasized the critical importance of health at the grassroots level.

He also extended the state’s gratitude to development partners for their expertise and financial support, describing their contributions as crucial for Yobe’s progress.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, outlined the scope of the initiative. 

He stated that the LGA-level challenge, which spans the fourth quarter of 2024 through the second quarter of 2025, was  designed to foster positive competition and significantly improve healthcare services across the state.

Dr. Kundi Machina highlighted the inclusive nature of the program, noting that every participant from the local government chairmen to the LGA health teams is considered has  winner.

The following LGAs were recognized for their outstanding performance across the three senatorial zones of the state.

Zone A,Bursari LGA swept all three quarters, winning for fourth Qauter in 2024, first quarter 2025, and second Quarter 2025.

In Zone B Potiskum LGA emerged winner in  2024 and first Quarter 2025, while Nangere LGA won for second Qauter of 2025.

While in Zone C, Jakusko LGA won for fourth quarter of 2024. 

Yusufari LGA took first place in first quarter of 2025, and Jakusko LGA returned to the top for second Qauter 2025.

 The executive secretary further called on them to sustain in that direction for the overall development and progress of the state.
