Lagos task force sustains clean-up, seizes 64 commercial motorcycles
The Lagos State Task Force has carried out a comprehensive enforcement operation on commercial motorcycles, seizing 64 of them in a renewed effort to sustain sanity and safety on Lagos roads.
The state Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola, said this in a statement on Tuesday.
Ogunlola noted that the operations which took place on Monday, Oct. 27 also targeted activities of street traders, illegal park operators, and other unlawful activities across major highways and inner routes on the Lagos Mainland.
“The clean-up exercise, which commenced around 11.00 a.m., covered key locations including Ebute Metta Axis, Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, and Surulere Local Government/LCDA areas, as well as adjoining restricted routes.
“During the operation, enforcement teams combed major roads such as Apapa Road, Murtala Mohammed Way, Herbert Macaulay Road, Western Avenue, Iganmu Roundabout, Eric Moore Road, Bode Thomas Road, Babs Animashaun, Ogunlana Drive.

“Also covered are: Itire Link Bridge, Muyiwa Opaleye Street, Odo-Olowu, Gbagada-Anthony Expressway, Ikorodu Road, 2nd Rainbow, and Alakija, among others,” she said.
Ogunlola said that the commercial motorcycles impounded ensured the restoration of order and ensuring free vehicular movement in the affected areas.
She said that the Lagos state task force reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.
She disclosed that the law prohibited commercial motorcycles on certain highways and major routes across the state.
