Gov. Buni Receives ACReSAL Policy Document
…Express commitment to tackling Environmental Challenges

Yobe State Gov. Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni CON COMN, has assured the committed of his administration to tackle environmental challenges confronting the state.
The governor stated this today while receiving the state policy document on climate change at the government house, Damaturu.

He said the government accorded priority to flood, erosion control and desert encroachment among others to tackle the challenges of climate change in the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Chairman ACReSAL steering committee, Alhaji Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, while presenting the document to Gov. Buni said the document would serve as a guide to handling the effects of climate change in the state.
The Secretary to the state Government and chairman of the policy document committee, Baba Malam Wali, represented by the Director -General YOGIS, Dr Hassan Gana, commended Gov. Buni for adopting policies, programmes and projects aimed at mitigating environmental challenges across the state.

Earlier the state project coordinator AcResal Shehu Alhaji Muhammad highlighted successes recorded from 2021 to date in the areas of water supply, drainages, tree planting among other numerous action to combat climate change.

He applauded Buni’s efforts in safeguarding the environment through various policies and programmes saying that Yobe AcResal was first to submit it drafted policy document to the national office and the world bank.
