Insecurity: we’re Proactive rather than Reactive- Governor Kefas

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has disclose that the administration has chosen proactive measures to tackle insecurity rather than waiting to react after damage is already done.
The SA to the Governor on Media and Digital Communication Hon. Emmanuel Bello said this on Saturday in an exclusive interview with The Sun Correspondent in Jalingo.
He said that the administration inherited serious security situation where residents were no longer able to go to their farms and could not sleep with their eyes closed.
“When this administration came on board, the State was facing the worst security situation in recent history. I mean, people were being kidnapped on a daily basis even here in the State capital.
“People could not go to their farms because they were afraid of being kidnapped or killed by bandits. We have a situation where a monarchs family was abducted and his wife and children were all killed. That is how bad the situation was.
“We were also facing serious and numerous ethnic clashes on multiple fronts. And so the first thing was to stabilise the situation and security agencies were quickly and sufficiently mobilised and motivated to tackle the immediate threats. We deployed both kinetic and non-kinetic measures to bring the situation under control.
“Once that was achieved to a large extent, we moved to the next phase of forestalling these times from recurring. That is why we set up the anti kidnapping task force. We also ban mining that was contributing to the situation. And since inception, we have made it a policy to continuously provide logistics for security agencies such and operational vehicles and motorcycles among several others.
We have also strengthened the State owned security outfit The Taraba Marshall and we have given them enough vehicles and motorcycles and have provided a befitting operational headquarters for them. We also ensure that workers are promptly paid.

“Of course, there are other measures we took that I can not disclose here for obvious reasons. But we have also continued to engage all the relevant stakeholders at all levels to ensure that grievances are amicably addressed and settled without resorting to violence.
“We still have pockets of challenges especially in Karim Lamido Local Government Area and that informed our decision to designate it an area of Particular Security Concern and we are managing the situation there to ensure complete return of normalcy” he said.
Bello calls on the people of the State to rally round the governor and support his efforts and policies to ensure the security of lives and property of the people in every part of the state.
