Obasanjo, Jonathan, to inaugurate 750 capacity NASS Christian chapel

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo alongside former President Goodluck Jonathan will on March 1, inaugurate the National Assembly Christian Chapel in Abuja.

This is contained in a statement co-signed by the President of Christian Legislators Fellowship, Sen. Binus Yaroe (PDP-Adamawa) and the Secretary, Rep. Bamidele Salam (PDP-Osun)  on Wednesday.

Yaroe said that former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon and the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu would attend the inauguration and dedication of the 750-capacity chapel.

He said that other dignitaries expected at the dedication include the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Archbishop Daniel Okoh; President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Francis Oke; and Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto among others.

”The dedication of the chapel represents the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening spiritual fellowship among Christian legislators and staff.

”The event, which is expected to attract eminent Nigerians from across the country, will mark a significant milestone for the Christian community within the National Assembly.

”The ceremony will bring together prominent Christian leaders, policymakers, and dignitaries in a moment of thanksgiving and spiritual reflection,” he said.

The lawmaker recalled that the non-denominational chapel project was initiated in May 2019 during the leadership of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara.

According to him, it was conceived as a dedicated place of worship, fellowship, and prayer for Christian lawmakers and staff of the National Assembly.

He said that the chapel would serve as a spiritual hub aimed at fostering unity, moral reflection, and faith-based support among members of the legislative community.
