Buni tasks Nigerians with peace-building efforts
Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has urged Nigerians to actively engage in peace-building efforts to promote unity and stability after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Buni, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, made the call shortly after the Eid-el-Fitr prayer on Friday in Damaturu.
He emphasised the need for citizens to be committed to fostering peaceful coexistence through tolerance, understanding and collective responsibility.
The governor urged Nigerians to harness the nation’s diversity as a strength in building a united and prosperous country.
He said with a population of over 200 million, the country had the human capacity to achieve sustainable peace and development.

Buni called on citizens to set aside their differences and work together toward national cohesion and progress.
He also advised the people in the state to remain security conscious and report any suspicious movements, persons or objects to security agencies.
The governor further urged traditional leaders and estate managers to properly screen and scrutinise prospective tenants before accommodating them in their communities.
He enjoined Muslims to sustain the lessons of Ramadan by promoting peace, brotherhood and love for the nation
