Eid-el-Fitr: Mohammed preaches unity, compassion in Bauchi

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged residents to uphold the virtues of unity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the state and beyond celebrate the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr festival.

This is contained in a goodwill message marking the end of Ramadan, issued by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the governor, on Friday in Bauchi.

The governor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the Muslim faithful the strength to complete the fasting period, describing Eid-el-Fitr as a time for reflection, renewal, and recommitment to righteous living.

Mohammed urged citizens to sustain the moral lessons of Ramadan, including patience, charity, humility, and kindness, stressing that “true success lies in maintaining these virtues beyond the holy month.”

He encouraged continued support for the less privileged and adherence to the exemplary life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), anchored on mercy, justice, and generosity.

The governor commended religious leaders and scholars for their role in promoting peace, moral discipline, and unity throughout Ramadan, urging them to sustain their guidance for societal development.

Reaffirming Bauchi state’s tradition of harmony among diverse groups, Mohammed called for tolerance and mutual respect.

While noting that unity remains key to progress, the governor said: “I want to urge residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information, following emerging security concerns in parts of the state.

“As the government intensifies efforts to safeguard lives and property, security remains a collective responsibility,” he said.

He assured residents of Bauchi of his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace, while appreciating the support of the people as his government nears the end of its tenure.

The governor pledged to build on his achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy.

Mohammed, who acknowledged the prevailing economic challenges, reiterated his administration’s resolve to implement policies aimed at improving livelihoods through investments in agriculture, infrastructure, and human capital development.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the month-long worship and wished all Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid celebration.
