ZAMFARA MEDIA CORPORATION TO ENHANCE IGR—IBRAHIM DOSARA
The outgoing Zamfara State Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, has said that the newly established media corporation in the state by Gov Bello Matawalle will enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
In a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday by the
Director Information Services of the ministry, Malam Usman Maru, Dosara stated this while handing over the affairs of the state ministry of information to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Alhaji Sani Nasarawa, as directed by gov Bello Matawalle.
Gov Bello Matawalle had recently dissolved state executives council and principal political appointees, directing the commissioners to hand over the affairs of their ministries to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries.
Dosara further stated that the newly media corporation inline with the revenue generation derive of the media industry will increase remittance to the State Government Account.

According to him the Zamfara State AM Radio, the Gold City FM Radio, the Zamfara State Television, the Zamfara State Newspaper Company, the State Censorship Board and the state Government Printing Press would work under close supervision of the media corporation.
He said the newly established media corporation will provide more job opportunities and promote the state media services to national standard.
The former commissioner further listed the achievements recorded within two months of his stewardship as commissioner of the state ministry of information.
“I secured governor’s approval to establish the state media corporation which was aimed at enhancing the capacity, efficiency and effectiveness of the state media industry to generate revenue and serve the people better, in terms of information, enlightenment, entertainment and awareness.
“The ministry secured the reopening of the state FM station which was shut down by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), two weeks before my appointment as the commissioner of the ministry.
“We also mapped out plans to make all the state media outfits online for wider coverage and listenership/viewers and readers”, Dosara added.
He said the ministry has the intention to deploy reporters to cover all the 19 northern states, the FCT and beyond.
He noted that he planned to improve training training and retraining for all categories of staff working under the six media outfits under the state media corporation.
“Within our two months period, we improved government-media relations within the two months of his stewardship as the commissioner of information.
“We planned a strategy to generate review for the state under the media industry sector”, he added.
“He therefore urged the permanent security, the management and staff of the ministry not to relent their efforts to ensure the implementation of the new government policies for the realization of their set objectives.
He thanked governor Bello Muhammed Matawale for giving him the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity.
Taking over the affairs of the Ministry from the outgoing Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Sani Nasarawa hailed the wonderful performance of the former commissioner in moving the ministry and the state media industry forward.
Nasarawa commended the dedication of the former commissioner, adding that his initiatives to enhance the performances of media industries within the shortest time of stay as the commissioner of the ministry.
“Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Dosara indeed works beyond working hours making so many proposals that would help the development of media industry in the state.
“We will continue from where you stopped, “we will continue to seek the counseling of the former commissioner in matters relating to media activities in Zamfara state”. The Perm Sec said.
