The historic town of Otukpo is set to become the intellectual and political epicenter of the Idoma nation this weekend as the prestigious Idoma Centenary Plus hosts its highly anticipated 2026 Centenary Lecture Series.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, the event will gather an elite lineup of think-tank leaders, policymakers, and professionals to dissect the critical intersection of heritage, career, and governance.
Under the evocative theme, ”A PEOPLE, THEIR PROFESSIONS AND THEIR POLITICS,” the symposium aims to chart a definitive roadmap for the Idoma people regarding their strategic political and professional choices in a rapidly evolving national landscape.
A Powerful Symphony of Voices Dubbed “Five Voices, One Conversation,” the lecture series features a robust panel of speakers drawn from academia, public service, law, the military, and the diaspora.
The Main Speaker: Headlining the event is Arc. Dr. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), who will bring his wealth of experience in public administration and educational infrastructure to the podium.
Legal & Strategy Heavyweights: Joining him is the legal luminary Chief Godwin Obla (SAN), alongside Arc. Dr. Peter Agada a renowned architect and business strategist.
Public Policy & Diaspora Insights: The conversation will be further enriched by Dr. Mary Ogbe, a Federal Permanent Secretary, and Dr. John Ofutu of Wins Beach Homes UK, who will be joining the conversation virtually from the United Kingdom.
