Eid-el-Kabir: Mining company donates rice, cows, rams to Nasarawa community
Diamond New Energy, a lithium mining company, in collaboration with Reves African Youth and Children Development Foundation, donates food items and livestock to residents of Endo community in Nasarawa State as part of its 2026 Eid-el-Kabir support programme.
The items distributed included 500 bags of rice, 300 cartons of vegetable oil, 20 cows and 30 rams.
Speaking during the distribution on Tuesday in Endo, Mr Richard Jiang, General Manager of Diamond New Energy, said the gesture was aimed at supporting the host community during the Sallah celebration.
Jiang said the company believed that success in mining should also translate into improving the welfare of host communities.
“Sallah is a season of love, sharing and kindness. Today, we are happy to support the community with cows, rams, bags of rice and other items for families.
“We thank the traditional leaders, youth leaders, women groups, government officials and the people of Endo community for their support and cooperation,” he said.
He assured the community that the company would continue to strengthen its relationship with residents through responsible mining, development and partnership.
Also speaking, the traditional ruler in the area, Alhaji Suleiman Ahmed-Eko, the Osu Ajiri, commended the company for the gesture and its contributions to community development.

Ahmed-Eko said the company had also constructed a town hall and clinic for the community.
He, however, urged the firm to sustain the support, noting that mining activities had affected farming activities in the area.
“Bringing foodstuffs is a supplement to our people who may have lost their farmlands and therefore the ability to produce food for themselves.
“We hope that as you support us during Sallah, you will also remember our Christian brothers and sisters during Christmas,” he said.
In his remarks, Alh. Ibrahim Jibril, the Emir of Nasarawa and Chairman, Nasarawa Local Government Council of Chief, also lauded the company for employing more than 2,000 indigenous people.
Jibril said that the community expected the company to invest more in training and scholarship opportunities for youths in mining-related professions.
“We want to know how many geologists, geophysicists, chemical engineers and mining engineers from Endo and Udege communities will benefit from the company’s scholarship schemes.
“We urge the company to emulate earlier mining firms that supported education and trained local people through scholarships,” he said.
The emir assured the company of the continued support of traditional institutions toward maintaining peace and security in the area.
He described the mining facility as one of the biggest in Africa and expressed optimism that its operations would bring more development opportunities to the host communities.
