Eid el-Kabir: Gombe Governor Preaches Peace, Unity, Sacrifice
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Kabir celebration, calling on the faithful to uphold the virtues of sacrifice, love, unity and obedience as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and upheld by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a goodwill message issued to mark the Sallah festivities, the Governor described Eid el-Kabir as a season of sacrifice, sharing and compassion, urging Muslims to remain steadfast in promoting peace and harmonious coexistence in the society.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya stressed the need for continued prayers for peace, prosperity and sustainable development in Gombe State and Nigeria at large, especially amid prevailing socio-economic and security challenges confronting the nation.
“Gombe State is peaceful, stable and progressive, and that has a lot to do with the spirit of peace, unity in diversity and tolerance that has been consistently nurtured and fostered among our people. I therefore charge us to maintain this spirit,” the Governor stated.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who is also the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, noted that this year’s Eid celebration coincides with the commencement of political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning against allowing politics to overshadow the lessons and spiritual significance of the festival.
According to him, the season should serve as a reminder of compassion, selflessness, obedience to Almighty Allah and love for one another, rather than division and unhealthy political rivalry.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also expressed deep appreciation to traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, as well as the people of Gombe State, for their continued support and cooperation with his administration.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing people-oriented policies, programmes and projects aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of the state.

The Governor urged residents to remain vigilant and security conscious by reporting suspicious activities capable of threatening the peace and stability currently enjoyed in the state.
“Government will not abdicate its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property. We will continue to support security agencies in their efforts to sustain peace and security across our dear state,” he assured.
On the rainy season, Governor Inuwa Yahaya called on citizens to pray for steady rainfall and bumper harvests while also taking proactive environmental measures to prevent flooding.
He advised residents to keep their surroundings clean, clear drainage channels and avoid flood-prone areas to minimise the impact of flooding during rainy season.
The Governor prayed for a peaceful, hitch-free Eid celebration filled with Allah’s blessings, mercy and benevolence for the people of Gombe State and the nation at large.
