Governor Inuwa Yahaya Felicitates with Muslims on Islamic New Year, Calls for Prayers, Unity and Renewed Faith
Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has congratulated Muslims in Gombe State, Nigeria and across the world on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1448 After Hijrah (AH).
In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the beginning of the new Hijri year as a period of spiritual renewal, sober reflection and renewed commitment to the values of faith, peace, compassion and service to humanity.
According to the Governor, the Islamic New Year offers an opportunity for the Muslim Ummah to reflect on past experiences, draw lessons from them and move into the future with stronger faith, hope and determination.
“As we usher in a new Hijri year, we must rededicate ourselves to the virtues of patience, sacrifice, tolerance and righteousness exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) during the Hijrah,” he stated.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya urged Muslims to use the sacred month of Al-Muharram and the months ahead to intensify prayers for lasting peace, unity and prosperity in Gombe State and the country at large.

He also called for special prayers for abundant rainfall and a successful farming season, expressing optimism that the year would bring greater progress and opportunities for the people.
The NSGF Chairman further emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and unity among the diverse ethnic and religious groups in the state and across the nation, especially in the face of prevailing security challenges confronting parts of the country.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing people-oriented policies and infrastructure projects aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of citizens.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding, steadfast in faith and committed to the collective task of building a peaceful, secure and prosperous society.
The Governor prayed Almighty Allah to bless the new Islamic year with peace, progress and divine mercy for Gombe State, Northern Nigeria and the country as a whole.
