Breaking: UDUS Dismiss Staff Over Sexual Harassment

The Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) has dismissed Malam Mustapha Abubakar over sexual harrasment.
The dismissal approval which was reached at the institutions 117th Council meeting held on the 10th of June, 2026.
While stating that, Mustapha was until his dismissal a staff of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the institution divulged that it has zero tolerance for harrassment of any sort.
According to UDUS Bulletin, “The University Governing Council at it’s 177th meeting held in 10th June, 2026 approved the dismissal of Mustapha Abukakar. The staff was dismissed as a result of serious gross misconduct involving sexual harassment.

“Until his dismissal, Malam Mustapha was with the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Faculty of Veterinary medicine”.
In the same vein, Usmanu Danfodoyo University (UDUS), in that Council meeting approved the elevation of 9 PhD holders to full professors and 4 others to Readers as well as 1 other person to the position of Senior Non-teaching Staff.
