FG endorses sub-national economic, tourism information roundtable as annual event

The Federal Government has endorsed the Sub-National Government Economic and Tourism Information Roundtable as an annual event due to strategic value added to the local potential across the federation.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said this at the Nigeria Sub National Investment and Tourism Information Roundtable in Abuja on Wednesday.

Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the roundtable featured the inauguration of National Compendium themed “Nigeria: Documenting the Economic and Tourism Profiles of 36 States and the FCT.

Represented by the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Dr Tope Fasua, Shettima said the document represented a major national tool for investment promotion, economic planning and tourism development.

He noted that the compendium aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda by placing states at the centre of Nigeria’s growth strategy.

“Our diversity is our greatest economic and cultural asset. The task is plain. We must move from documentation to implementation, from potential to productivity, from scattered opportunities to structured investment pipelines.

“Given the strategic value of this initiative and to sustain the momentum it has set in motion, I hereby endorse the Sub-National Government Economic and Tourism Information Roundtable as an annual event.

“On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I congratulate the organisers, contributors, and partners on this milestone.

“May this compendium open new doors of investment, strengthen the visibility of our state, promote our tourism assets, attract international capital, mobilise our diaspora, and contribute to a more prosperous, united, and globally respected Nigeria.”

In his remarks, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, who emphasised the importance of the roundtable, said it provided a strategic platform to showcase the vast economic and tourism opportunities across Nigeria.

According to him, every state has unique assets in agriculture, solid minerals, cultural and creative industries, historic sites, natural attractions, technology, manufacturing, trade, and services.

The minister expressed optimism that the initiative would attract investment, create jobs, and generate revenue, and support inclusive national development.

“This initiative speaks directly to the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, which includes, among others, managing the image and reputation of Nigeria.

“It is also aimed at helping the Minister of Culture to promote the culture of our people and government, and ensuring access by citizens and the global community to credible and timely information.

“This also aligns with the President’s mission to maintain a robust information dissemination network that promotes Nigeria’s tourism potentials and enhances our cultural values.”
