Troops rescue kidnapped victims, recover 318 rustled livestock

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma rescue kidnapped victims, apprehended a suspected terrorist collaborator and recovered 318 rustled livestock during operations in Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara.

This is contained in an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday in Abuja.

The report revealed that troops deployed at Forward Operating Base Kadage rescued two women and a toddler abandoned by bandits in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It said the victims were kidnapped in May from Kajenjere Tami village and were reportedly being moved to another bandit camp before troops intervened.

According to the army, the rescued victims received medical attention before being reunited with their relatives.

“In Zamfara, troops and a Tactical Strike Team arrested a 19-year-old suspected terrorist collaborator at a checkpoint along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi road.

“The suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.

“In Katsina State, troops conducted an offensive operation targeting terrorist enclaves in Matazu Local Government Area.

“The operation followed aerial surveillance and bombardment of suspected terrorist locations by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma.

“During the operation, troops recovered 318 rustled livestock, comprising 36 cattle, 280 sheep and two donkeys,” it said.

The army said the troops also reassured residents of affected communities of continued military support and prompt response to distress calls.
