Yobe Government donates sporting equipments to security agencies

The Yobe State Government donates sporting equipments to security agencies as part of its post-insurgency recovery drive.
Distributing the sporting equipments on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Social Development, Alhaji Barma Shettima reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote wellness and healthy recreation within all kinds arms of the security architecture.
Represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Muhammad Gidado Abubakar, the commissioner said sports is a veritable tool in strengthening the existing cordial relationship between the security agencies and the communities they serve.

The permanent secretary stressed that the gesture aligns with Buni led administration agenda of building a healthy, secure and productive society.
He outlined that items donated includes eighteen football jerseys, two tracksuits, two balls, twelve shoes and other equipment, to appreciate the unrelenting contribution of the security agencies in fostering peace and unity in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the benefiting security agencies the representative of the Nigeria army lieutenant Colonel W.O Ahmad expressed gratitude to the state government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni for the support saying it will go along way in promoting sports development between the security agencies.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad added that sport will also foster closer relationships among host communities through organising competitions and football matches.

In his remarks, northeast zonal vice president sport writers association of Nigeria SWAN comrade Ahmad Kagana Amshi applauded the state government for its consistent support in the sports development across the state.
Comrade Kagana reassured the efforts of SWAN to continue propagation of sport development in Yobe, northeast and Nigeria as part of post conflict recovery.
