NOA tasks Yobe residents on extended voter registration

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Yobe, has urged eligible but unregistered residents of the state to take advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) two-week extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The Yobe Director of the NOA, Mrs  Zuwaira Ali, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Damaturu.

She said the extension, which would end on July 24, offered the final opportunity for eligible Nigerians to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to her, voter registration is a civic responsibility that enables citizens to exercise their constitutional right to participate in the democratic process.

“I urge all eligible residents who are yet to register to visit the designated INEC registration centres across the state without further delay.

“This extension should be seen as a final opportunity for every eligible citizen to secure a PVC and participate in choosing leaders during the 2027 general elections,” she said.

Zuwaira then appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, youth groups, women associations and other stakeholders to intensify sensitisation campaigns across the state’s 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

She said collective efforts by community leaders and organisations would help in ensuring that no eligible voter was left unregistered before the deadline.

The director reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to promoting civic responsibility and encouraging active citizens’ participation in Nigeria’s democratic process through sustained public enlightenment.
