We Are Blending Practical Experience of Seasoned Workers With Digital Knowledge of The Youth To Boost Service Delivery – Gov. Buni

Yobe state government said it introduced youth into governance and administration of the state as a deliberate strategy to blend fresh energy, ideas and digital knowledge with the experience of seasoned civil servants to improve productivity.

The state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, disclosed this today at a summit “Breaking Barriers to trade and leadership” organized by the African Leadership Organization in Abuja.

According to him, this became necessary because, the youth constitute the larger percentage of the state’s population “the youth are generally more active in driving a digital economy, and for the state to be in tune with the changing times, they deserve inclusion”.

The governor explained that while the seasoned hands provide experience, the youth provides the digital knowledge to fast track productivity and service delivery.

“Yobe state today, parades the youngest Secretary to the State Government, while, several other young University lecturers have been appointed as chief Executive Officers of some of the newly established departments and agencies, giving the youth a very rare opportunity to participate in governance” Buni added.

The governor further noted that the state’s investment in agriculture, has improved food security and economic growth among the people, “I am glad that this initiative has economically empowered our people, many of whom have not only expanded their farmlands but have become employers of labour”.

“The massive road construction linking towns and villages has improved movement of goods and services, and also speedy response to security threats.

“Equally important of note is the ease of transportation of farm produce from the interior communities to our newly constructed international markets in nine locations.

“The new roads and markets have saved our farmers from shylock middlemen who hither to now exploit the farmers.

“Similarly, the construction of the state-owned international cargo airport has continued to attract international investors. Already, some investors have indicated interest to invest in agro-allied industry especially sesame seeds.

Gov. Buni said although it is still a work in progress, his administration has provided a visionary leadership with great
human capital development, agricultural empowerment, infrastructural development, and opportunities for trade and investment.
