Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, has been appointed Deputy Director-General, North I, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election.
The appointment places Gov. Buni among the party’s key figures entrusted with coordinating its campaign activities in the northern region as the APC prepares for the January 2027 election.
According to the membership list released by the State House on Saturday, August 22, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve as chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice chairman. APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda is also listed as Vice Chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari will serve as Director-General.
Gov. Buni is listed alongside Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Senator Barau Jibril Barau as Deputy Directors-General responsible for different zones of the campaign structure.
Gov. Buni’s designation as Deputy Director-General, North I, reflects the confidence placed in his political and administrative experience, particularly his long-standing involvement in party organization and governance.
The governor has previously served as national secretary of the APC and played significant roles in strengthening the party’s structures. His current position in the presidential campaign council further places him at the center of the party’s efforts to mobilize support and coordinate its northern campaign strategy.

As the 2027 campaign approaches, the governor’s new responsibility is expected to bring his experience in political mobilization, party administration, and governance into the APC’s broader presidential campaign effort.
