Ex-Military Administrator, returns to Kano roots, pledges support for Shanono youths, security
The former Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Col. Yakubu Bako (rtd), has pledged to support efforts to address unemployment, insecurity and infrastructure challenges in Shanono, Kano State.
Bako made the pledge during a visit to the District Head of Shanono, Dr. Bashir Muhammad, on Friday at his palace in Shanono, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the ex-military administrator was received by the Secretary to the District, Alhaji Sharfaddin Shanono, on behalf of the District Head.
Shanono appealed to the visitor to assist youths in the area through empowerment to make them self-reliant and discourage them from indulging in social vices.
The district head explained that many youths had completed their education but remained unemployed, urging Bako to use his connections to help them secure jobs.
Responding, Bako, who is an indigene of the area, promised to use his connections and influence to secure job opportunities for the affected youths as part of his contributions.
NAN reports that Bako later visited Dutsen Bakoshi, his hometown, where he was received by the Ward Head, Malam Ibrahim Ahmad.
Ahmad appreciated the visitor for his contributions to the development of the community.

He recalled that Bako had facilitated several interventions, including connecting the community to electricity, creating employment opportunities, establishing a craft centre and supporting other development initiatives.
Meanwhile, Umar Muazu, who spoke on behalf of residents, appealed for Bako’s intervention in addressing insecurity and other challenges affecting the community.
Muazu urged him to work with relevant stakeholders to tackle insecurity, noting that Dutsen Bakoshi shares borders with Katsina State and other areas.
He also appealed for assistance to improve road infrastructure and water supply, which he identified as major challenges facing the community.
Responding to the requests, Bako promised to work closely with the residents’ representatives to ensure that the challenges raised were addressed.
He pledged to seek solutions to other challenges that the residents might not have raised, assuring them of his continued concern for their welfare and development.
