2027: Kano police charge officers to remain neutral, apolitical
The Police Command in Kano has charged officers to remain absolutely neutral and apolitical in discharging their duties, particularly during the ongoing electioneering campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, made the call during a lecture on Election Security Management on Monday in Kano.
The lecture, held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Kano, had in attendance Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical and Operational Units and other key officers of the command.
The CP appreciated the officers for their dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to crime prevention, management and control.
According to him, this has significantly contributed to the relative peace and stability currently being enjoyed in the state.
“As police officers, you must remain absolutely neutral and apolitical in the discharge of your duties, particularly during the ongoing electioneering campaigns.
“The Nigeria Police Force has a constitutional responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and actors.”

The commissioner warned that any officer found engaging in partisan politics or compromising the integrity of the electoral process would face strict disciplinary action.
He further charged operational commanders to remain professional, respect human rights and the rule of law, operate with the fear of God, and work selflessly to earn public trust and confidence.
Adamu-Bakori reminded the officers that building public trust “is the cornerstone of effective policing.”
He therefore urged them to strengthen community partnership and intelligence-led policing to ensure a peaceful, credible and hitch-free electoral process in the state.
“The Command, under the visionary leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, reiterates its resolve to provide adequate security before, during and after the 2027 general elections,” he said.
He further called on residents, political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and abide by the provisions of the Electoral Act.
“Any act capable of breaching public peace will not be condoned,” he warned..
