AGILE: Bauchi govt targets 24,000 girls for education, livelihood support
The Bauchi state government says it has targeted 24,000 girls for livelihood and education support under the Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) programme.
Mrs Sa’adatu Usman, Component Lead, Alternative Education, AGILE, who spoke on Saturday in Bauchi, said the programme would organise a five-day exercise to train facilitators on modules to facilitate smooth implementation of the programme.
She said that the programme would provide opportunities to out-of-school girls, and drop outs to be educated.

Usman said that the programme tagged: “Second Chance,” aimed at mobilising enrollment at learning spaces, to enable the girls to learn basic numeracy and literacy, as well as health and livelihood skills.
She said that the girls would also be exposed to financial literacy, and leadership skills during the three-month training exercise.
The official said that a total of 1,766 girls were trained in 2025 under the programme across the 20 local government areas of the state.
“The beneficiaries will be introduced to life skills, know how to identify letters and read in three months, and also receive incentives in the form of conditional cash transfer.”
