Bringing Hope and Healing: Echono’s Mega Medical Outreach Transforms Healthcare Access for 27,529 Benue Residents
In a monumental push to bridge healthcare gaps for vulnerable populations, a comprehensive five-day medical outreach facilitated by Architect Sonny S.T. Echono has successfully wrapped up across Benue State, reaching 27,529 patients and executing over 113 life-changing surgical procedures.

The extensive humanitarian and health initiative was spearheaded by the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima 2027. Running from Tuesday, October 27, through Saturday, October 31, 2026, the programme transformed community health landscapes across the region.
Bridging the Healthcare Gap Across Seven Centres
Recognizing the barriers that rural and underserved populations face in accessing quality medical attention, the outreach strategically deployed teams across seven key healthcare facilities spanning the length and breadth of Benue State. The participating centres included:
- General Hospital, North Bank, Makurdi
- Facilities in Gboko
- Katsina-Ala
- Vandeikya
- Oju
- Ugbekpo
- The Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo
Comprehensive Care: From Routine Consultations to Complex Surgeries
The outreach offered an all-encompassing suite of medical services tailored to address both acute and chronic health challenges within the populace. Services provided included:
- Free Consultations & Diagnostics: Thorough medical evaluations, diagnostics, and treatments for common yet debilitating ailments such as malaria, respiratory infections, and dental conditions.
- Specialized Maternal & Child Care: Dedicated medical interventions focusing heavily on the health and safety of pregnant women and young children.
- Advanced Surgical Interventions: Over 113 specialized operations performed by expert medical teams, addressing critical conditions including hernias, appendicitis, haemorrhoids, and cataracts.
- Free Medications: Distribution of free prescription drugs, pharmaceutical supplies, and medical aids directly to residents who otherwise could not afford them.
