ZAMFARA FIRST LADY EMPOWERS 500 VULNERABLE WOMEN

The Zamfara State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad (Matawallen Maradun) has empowered 500 vulnerable women in the state with 250 tailoring and 250 grinding machines, through her Women Empowerment Scheme.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Tuesday by the Press Secretary, office of the First Lady, Zainab Shu’aibu Abdullahi.

Zainab Abdullahi noted the scheme is part of the First Lady’s initiatives to alleviate poverty among women in the society.

“The month of June Empowerment is in line with the First Lady’s continuous strive to provide a sustainable means of livelihood for women.

“The program is also an addition to the achievements of Gov Matawalle’s second years administration in the state through the First Lady’s office”, the statement said.

Hajiya Aisha Matawalle, while presenting the items to the beneficiaries said, it was provided to help women to explore their potentials”, She said.

“There is a need to create an enabling environment where they will be economically uplifted.

“My Empowerment Scheme which has improved the living standard of over 38,000 women so far, keeps recording more success stories across the state”, she added.

She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the machines for their livelihoods so as to gain more positive results economically.

She also lauded her husband, Gov Bello Matawalle who has been supporting the scheme morally and financially for the sustainability of the Programme.

“I once again appreciate his passionate commitment to the plights of women and children in the State.

“The beneficieries of the gesture include women with disabilities, youth and women groups, widows, religious groups, non- indigenes, market women and many others

“The occasion was attended by many key stakeholders including the government’s dignitaries, traditional and religious leaders, groups and associations among others. the Press Secretary said.
