Festivals: Markets, shops to be closed for 2 days in Akure
Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, the Deji of Akure, on Wednesday notified residents of Akure and its environs, that all markets and shops in Akure would be shut on Thursday, Aug. 19, and Saturday September. 4, for celebrations marking the Aheregbe and Amole festivals respectively.
This is contained in a statement by Mr Micheal Adeyeye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba.
“The closure becomes necessary as part of the requirement to observe the age-long traditions of the annual Aheregbe and Amole festivals.

“It is important to emphasise that there shall be no trading or opening of shops under any guise on these days.
“Residents, market women and shop owners are kindly enjoined to comply with this directive,” the statement read.
The statement added that, “however, the festivals would not in any way restrict both human and vehicular movement”.
