……Truck driver arrested and handed over to Police by Lastma Officials
A Dagote Mixer truck (KANO MDB 531 XA) with brake failure on Monday crushed an innocent woman around Abule-Egba inward Mobil Filling Station beside Jubilee Bridge Opposite Zenith Bank, Lagos.
The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA Mr. Adebayo Taofiq confirmed that the trapped (Female) dead body was evacuated underneath the Dangote truck by Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and immediately handed over to Policemen from Oko-Oba Police Station.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the Dangote Mixer truck while on a high speed lost control as a result of a brake failure and while trying to swerve into a drainage channel crushed an innocent woman.
While Lastma Officials immediately apprehended the truck driver, Policemen from Oko-Oba Police Station provided security backup while the rescue operations lasted.
Lastma Abdul Salam Nurudeen (Alpha, Zone 19 Abule-Egba/Tollgate) who led the recovery operations confirmed that other road sympathizers supported his team to remove the trapped dead body.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, warned truck owners/drivers to always ensure their trucks are properly checked, including the braking system, before embarking on any journey within or outside Lagos.
