Adamawa Deputy Governor advocates for women in politics
Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Adamawa Deputy Governor, has urged women to aspire for political position to create positive change in the political arena of the country.
Farauta made the appeal while addressing participants at the 28 Annual National Conference of National Association of Women in Colleges of Education (WICE) on Tuesday, in Yola.
She expressed optimism that women’s collective action and collaboration could lead to tangible progress in gender inclusivity.
“When women are in positions, whether in the academia, politics or private sector, accountability is assured.
“Nigeria is waiting for great women that can make a change in the political arena, here in Adamawa women have found a space in the political arena and are striving,” she said.
Farauta mentioned that Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration had actively promoted gender inclusivity in governance, aiming to increase the representation of women in decision-making positions.
“Gov. Fintiri’s initiatives have included women in key positions within his government and advocating for policies that support gender equality and empowerment.
“Fintiri promoted women in leadership roles as Deputy Governor, vice chairmen across the 21 LGAs for gender equality and women’s empowerment in politics.
“I however believe that women will emerge as local government chairpersons in the next political dispensation,”she said.
The Deputy Governor further encouraged mothers to ensure the girl child was educated to enhance women economic status and societal relevance in the country.
Also speaking Prof. Theresa Okoli, National President (WICE) applauded the conversion of Federal Colleges of Education Zaria, Kano and Panshing to degree awarding institutions.

Okoli urged the participants to make useful contribution to proffer solutions to education, society and promote quality teaching.
She advocated for innovative ideas for the betterment of the colleges of educations.
Prof. Benson Baha, Provost College of Education (COE) Hong LGA, who doubles as the Chairman of the occasion solicited support for women, for the growth of the educational sector.
Baha pointed out that the women desired more attention in policies that proffered quality of life and mentoring their children, while urging them to prioritise the education of their children.
The Association’s grand patron, Prof. Paulinus Chijioke, advised the participants to demonstrate professionalism pledging more support to COEs to thrive better in dispensing knowledge to students.
