Adamawa Govt. urges youths to embrace AI, digital skills for self-reliance
Adamawa Government has urged women and youths in the state to take advantage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital skills to be self-reliant and financially capable in future.
The state Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hammanjumba Gatugel, made the call at the commemoration of the 2025 World Youth Skills’ Day in Yola on Wednesday.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the theme of the Day is “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Skills.”
Gatugel said that the day was worth celebrating considering the fact that Nigeria has the largest number of active android and other electronic device users.
“Artificial intelligence and digital skills are having a global market that our youths can key into in order to be self-reliant.
“The state government recently trained 50 youths selected across the 21 LGAs in artificial intelligence and digital skills, considering their importance.
“The beneficiaries were trained in digital marketing, graphic design, web development and modern workplace digital communication,” he said.
Dr Hammajam Adamu, Special Adviser to Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri on ICT and E-economy, advised the youth to understand that technological advancement came with a lot of opportunities.
He urged them to tap on the opportunities and not to wait for jobs from the government.

“Please be creative and innovative; do not wait for or depend on something that may not benefit you in the future,” Adamu said.
Salisbury Babayi, Manager, Technology Incubation Centre, encouraged youths to leverage on technology and be ready for mentorship.
He said such opportunities would help them to succeed in the future adding that white color jobs are hardly available.
Mr Ibrahim Usman, the Director of Entrepreneurship, appreciated the state government for creating an enabling environment for the training of youths in the state not only on AI but across all skills.
