Adamawa, L-PRESS empower 23,000 livestock farmers with inputs, machinery
Adamawa Government in collaboration with the state Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS) has empowered 23,000 profile livestock farmers in-clusters, with inputs and machinery.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the inputs and machinery include 50 pieces of crushing machines, 55 chopper machines, 8,200 mineral licks among others.
Speaking at the distribution in Yola on Thursday, L-PRESS National Coordinator, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar said that Adamawa was leading other 20 states in implementing the project in line with World Bank guidelines.
He appreciated Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for providing an enabling environment for the successful implementation of the project.
He said L-PRESS has also approved the establishment of a modern livestock hub center in Adamawa.
Abubakar congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to make judicious use of the gesture in their respective clusters.
In his address, Fintiri, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr Edgar Amos, appreciated the contribution of L-PRESS in the execution of various projects in the sector.
The governor, who said Adamawa was hugely endowed with livestock resources pledged his continued support for the project to succeed.
Dr Tijjani Maksha, the state Commissioner for Livestock, thanked the governor and the L-PRESS project for transforming the sector.

He called on pastoralists to redouble their efforts at improving their production with the aim of providing employment opportunities and reducing poverty.
Dr Secondee Alfa, L-PRESS Adamawa Coordinator, said the six-year project had recorded huge successes in the sector.
He appreciated the pastoralists for coming under one umbrella to develop the sector in the state.
Dr Abubakar Umar, on behalf of the pastoralists, appreciated L-PRESS and the Adamawa government for the gesture.
He said the distribution of inputs and machinery was a testimony to the transformation of the sector from conventional to modern livestock farming
