Adamawa lawmaker distributes food items to support Ramadan, Lent
Sen. Binos Yaroe, representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, has distributed food items to the less privileged across the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the constituency.
Yaroe disclosed this to newsmen on Friday in Mayo-Belwa LGA.
Represented by his Campaign Director-General, Mr Katawan Boniface, the senator said the gesture was aimed at supporting Muslims observing Ramadan and Christians marking the Lenten season.
He appealed to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Muslim Council to ensure proper distribution of the items to the intended beneficiaries.
Yaroe described the period as significant for both faiths and urged believers to use the season to pray for peace, unity and peaceful coexistence.
“The items distributed across the nine LGAs include 1,170 bags of rice, 900 bags of sugar, 450 cartons of spaghetti and 144 cartons of vegetable oil.
“Each LGA received 130 bags of rice, 100 bags of sugar, 50 cartons of spaghetti and 16 gallons of vegetable oil for onward distribution to the less privileged,” he said.
The senator said the intervention underscored his commitment to supporting vulnerable persons and providing relief to constituents during important religious seasons.
Reacting, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman, Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Muslim Council in Mayo-Belwa LGA, commended the senator for the gesture and pledged fair distribution of the items.

Suleiman described Yaroe as a sincere leader committed to the welfare of his constituents, noting that the items would support Muslims during the Ramadan fast.
Similarly, the Secretary of CAN in Mayo-Belwa LGA, Mr Chris Simon, said the gesture was timely as Christians observe the Lenten season.
Simon assured that the items would be distributed to the most vulnerable members of the community.
Also speaking, Malam Abubakar Bolto, Chairman of People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in the area, expressed appreciation to the senator for including persons with disabilities among the beneficiaries.
Bolto said the items would be shared among members of the association irrespective of religious affiliation.
He appealed to the senator to continue supporting vulnerable groups during holy seasons.
