AFCON 2025: Group finale beckons as knockout battle peaks in Morocco
The final group matches of the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kick off Monday, with qualification still open and trademark late drama looming across Morocco.
Egypt, Nigeria and Algeria have sealed Round-of-16 places after two wins each, leaving the rest battling for top-two finishes or best third-placed routes.
Monday opens with simultaneous kick-offs, sharpening tension as margins, goals and permutations come into play across multiple groups.
In Group B, Egypt are through on six points, but South Africa need a win over Zimbabwe, while Angola must shock Egypt and hope results swing.
Group A remains wide open. Hosts Morocco lead on four points, with Mali and Zambia tied on two and Comoros still alive, setting up a volatile night.
Tuesday refocuses on Group C as already qualified Nigeria face Uganda, while Tunisia, on three points, must deliver against Tanzania amid lingering threats.
Group D promises a crunch finish, with Senegal and DR Congo on four points, Benin close behind and Botswana seeking a late surge.
Wednesday closes the group phase as Algeria, already qualified, shape Group E’s outcome, while Group F pits Cameroon and holders Cote d’Ivoire in a tight duel.
If early rounds are a guide, the final stretch will defy predictions and deliver decisive twists over three gripping days.
