Aiyedatiwa tasks stakeholders on tackling bullying among children
Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has tasked parents, teachers and other stakeholders to come together to tackle bullying among children in the state.
Aiyedatiwa made the call at a programme to celebrate the 2025 National Children’s Day on Tuesday in Akure.
The celebration tagged: “Stand Up, Speak Up, Building a Bullying free Generation” was organised and hosted by the Office of the Special Adviser on Women Affairs to the Governor.
He urged stakeholders to stand up against humiliating children, stating that bullying could stifle the dreams and aspirations of any child.
”All stakeholders must strive to protect every child and give them wing to fly toward their dreams.
”Also, children must support one another and not be silent in the face of bullying, ” he said.
Aiyedatiwa, who commended the Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Dr Seun Osemaye, for the interventions in the welfare of children, promised that his administration would continue to prioritise policies and programmes to impact children.
Similarly, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, the wife of the governor, urged parents to relate cordially with their children as friends.
Mrs Aiyedatiwa said: ”Bullying must be wholly discouraged even at homes, schools and other public places.”
In her remarks, the special adviser on women affairs said that the celebration was that of love and unity among children and improvement of their welfare.
She explained that the theme of the 2025 Children’s Day celebration was apt and timely in tackling critical issue of bullying in the society.

Osemaye added that stakeholders must take actions against bullying among children and young adults, stating that the celebration was to empower children to speak up through advocacy and confidence building.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the state governor inaugurated the third Ondo State Children’s Parliament at the occasion.
Speaking on behalf of the young parliament, Miss Olamide Poroye, commended the governor for resuscitating the platform after 12 years of moribund.
Poroye said that the platform would give children in the state a platform to speak and make their intentions known.
VMT NEWS also reports that there were cultural displays, march past and oratory presentations by different primary and secondary schools across the state with awards of cash and trophies to outstanding schools.
