According to her, the influenc of religion in building peaceful coexistence between Christian and Muslim communities is very strong hence the need for spiritual leaders to take the responsibility of restoring peace and unity very seriously in the society.

Sheikh Ali Mustapha, one of the speakers from the University of Maiduguri, who spoke on “Peace, Tolerance and Peaceful Coexistence, Islamic Perspective,” said the word Islam symbolised “Peace” because of the religion stand on the promotion of peaceful coexistence among the human family.
Mustapha pointed out that Islam was very keen in protecting the interest and rights of both Muslims and non-Muslims alike from the time Prophet Muhammad as demonstrated by the prophet in protecting the rights of the Jewsh community in Medina and the unbelievers in Mekkah.
The Islamic scholar also said that the prophet has encouraged Muslims to be kind in their sealings with the public in both social and business relationship irrespective of their faith.
He, therefore, urged members of the communities to be fair and just to one another, saying peace and security could easily be attain in society where justice and equity were established.

“Jesus thought us how to live in peace with one another in our communities,” the clergyman said.
Michael noted that it was clear that the Allamin Foundation was out to restore the lost glory of the peaceful coexistence among Christian and Muslim communities in the state which he said had been polluted by enemies of the state.
The clergyman also cited an example with the Jews in Israel whose main objective as a people he said was about being patriotic and the brothers keepers to one another as one family for their peaceful coexistence in the country irrespective of whether the person is a Muslim or a Christian Jew.
He, therefore, urged the the religious leaders to emulate the Jewish people by protecting the intest of all Nigerians without any discrimination.
However, a cross-section of the participants at the dialogue expressed their determination to work with both foundations to addressing the problem of religion intolerance and promoting peace and unity in their communities.
